Mamasan Trilogy
Did you know that Pearl Jam’s “Alive” is actually part of a trilogy known to fans as The Mamasan Trilogy? Indeed it is. The Mamasan Trilogy consists of “Alive“, “Once“, and “Footsteps“. In that order. Together they tell the tale of incest, murder, and, finally, the remorse of a man on death row about to take a walk down the green mile. “ Alive” is semi-autobiographical and also one of the first songs Eddie Vedder ever recorded that eventually landed him the role of frontman for Pearl Jam.
